All three major US stock market indices dropped last week (i.e., DJIA: -0.15%, S&P 500: -1.36%, Nasdaq: -1.50%) driven by tech stock performance post earnings announcements. Although Alphabet/Google, Microsoft, Meta/Facebook, Amazon, and Apple came through with solid earnings, Wall Street expressed concerns with growing capital expenditures drawing from future profitability. This week’s presidential election is certainly top of mind in many regards. Growing US deficits are one cause for concern. If the trend continues, then interest rates will likely rise.
