STAY SAFE & HAVE FUN!
All three major US stock market indices posted gains for the week (i.e., DJIA: +0.34%, S&P 500: +1.84%, Nasdaq: +3.09%), so we may be “on the road again!” AAPL staged a roaring comeback after stumbling out of the gate last week and boosted the S&P 500 within 0.3% of its all-time high! As stated in recent Weekly H&Cs, the anticipation of Federal Reserve interest rate cuts certainly adds fuel to the market’s fervor. However, two sticking points hover around that decision.
- Inflation is running a little over 3% versus the Fed’s annual target rate of 2%.
- And there is a timing issue surrounding a rate cut. 2024 is an election year. The Fed needs to appear unbiased in its decisions.
