The S&P 500 snapped its four-week losing streak, but it wasn’t a sweep across the board for all three major US stock market indices (i.e., DJIA: -0.31%, S&P 500: +0.48%, Nasdaq: +1.60%). The conundrum remains if the Federal Reserve will raise their Fed Funds rate at the November 1st meeting. That is likely one major reason for recent stock market volatility as the benchmark 10-year US Treasury rate marches towards 5%. Third quarter earnings announcements begin this week. Depending on those results, we may get a clearer picture as we close out the year. Look at Zacks’ report below for some guidance on what to expect.
