STAY SAFE & HEALTHY!
Who really knows if we’ll experience a soft landing or a hard landing? All we really know is that the US stock market finally broke the losing streak with all three major indices in the green this past week (i.e., DJIA: +1.75%, S&P 500: +1.90%, Nasdaq: +2.58%). The economy and sales growth for corporations still appear to be slowing as interest rates continue to rise. The 2-year US Treasury hit 4.90% and the 10-year US Treasury rose to 4.06% all in anticipation of the Federal Reserve raising the Fed Funds rate by another 0.25% later in March. A more holistic approach to the stock and bond markets leaves us exactly where we reside. The stock market has been trading in a range as earnings have slowed or slightly recessed. The opening up of economic conditions in China will certainly provide some boost for multinational companies but that may be offset by US-China relations. If you travel by plane, virtually all the seats are occupied. And the same goes for retail shopping, dining, and entertainment! One wouldn’t think we are heading into a recession.
