STAY SAFE & HEALTHY!
When the US stock market indices end the week with a down Friday, it doesn’t feel very good. Surprise! Thanks to this past Monday and Tuesday, all three major US stock market indices produced positive results for the week for the first time in who knows how long (i.e., DJIA: +1.99%, S&P 500: +1.51%, Nasdaq: +0.73%). Friday’s Jobs Report came in strong, indicating the Federal Reserve may have to continue raising interest rates to cool down inflation. That, in and of itself, spooks the markets. Next week begins 3Q2022 earnings announcements, which foretells how much the economy appears to be slowing in different industries. For more on this topic, click the Schwab “Markets to Fed: Slow Down, You Move Too Fast” link below. Reminiscent of the old Simon & Garfunkel song from the 1960s!
With 3Q2022 ending last Friday, we have (link below) the Economic and Market update from J.P. Morgan Asset Management’s Dr. David Kelly. This is the abbreviated version with his notes supported by the slide presentation. We hope you will find it interesting as we begin the last quarter of a very difficult 2022 in the markets.
Below are links to a number of third-party research reports that we have read and analyzed over the past week. We hope you will find the information interesting, useful, and worthwhile.
