“A DAY OF REMEMBRANCE FOR THOSE THAT LOST THEIR LIVES AND THOSE WHO GAVE THEIR LIVES.”
After three weeks of losses, the US stock market indices finally posted gains (i.e., DJIA: +2.66%, S&P 500: +3.65%, Nasdaq: +4.14%). “What caused it?” you might ask. Maybe the law of averages? But truly the catalyst is nowhere to be found! Stock market scientists, also known as technicians, chart the market movements and speak a language foreign to most. The S&P 500 (as a proxy for the US market) seems to be trading in a range of 3,900-4,300 with last Friday closing at 4,067.36 and the June 2022 low notching 3,636. Fundamentally, the economy continues to plod along with inflation abating somewhat, employment holding steady, and supply chains easing a little. However, a primary indicator of market direction may be the health of the US consumer. J.P. Morgan Asset Management’s analysis might be of interest. Click the link below.
