THE CLIENTFIRST WEEKLY HIGHLIGHTS & COMMENTARY WILL NOT BE PUBLISHED NEXT WEEK IN CELEBRATION OF THE THANKSGIVING HOLIDAY. WE HOPE YOU ARE ABLE TO SPEND TIME WITH FAMILY AND FRIENDS! IF YOU’RE ON THE ROAD OR IN THE AIR, TRAVEL SAFELY!
Yes, all three of the major US stock market indices were down for the week (i.e., DJIA: -0.01%, S&P 500: -0.69%, Nasdaq: -1.57%), but let’s call it “break even” if that makes you feel better! As we head into the last month of 2022, two things are top of mind: the Fed (interest rates) and recession. Although tangentially related, the ultimate results will dictate the coming year in the economy and, thus, the stock market. Both will survive, but will the roller coaster ride be like Kings Island’s Beast, the Orion (high speed with steep plummets), or Soak City (slow with water drenching)? Look at the BlackRock link “Stock surge to meet recession reality” for more insight.
History truly provides guidance. It’s not like we haven’t seen this movie before. Capital Group’s epistle takes us through a litany of past bear markets. We think you will find it interesting. Click their “Courage! We have been here before” link below.
